Kush! Comics is a the one and only comics publisher from Latvia, founded 2007 in Riga.
They are especially famous for their international quarterly comics anthology š! (sounds like Shhh!), which features artists from around the world such as Amanda Baeza, Dilraj Mann, Inés Estrada, Jesse Jacobs, Roman Muradov, Zane Zlemeša and many more. Besides that they also publish the mini comics series mini kuš!.
In 2012 they won the prestigious Bande Dessinée Alternative Award at BD Angouleme in France.
Kush! Are Little Comics — See!
They’re pocket-sized books has received praise from Broken Frontier to the Comics Reporter and Kush! was even featured as one of “Five Groundbreaking Publishers” in World Literature Today.
The aims of Kush! are to popularise comics in a country where this medium is practically non-existent and promoting Latvian comics abroad.
They not only publish comics on paper, but also organise exhibitions, workshops, residencies, comics jams and other comics related events.
You can meet them at many international festivals spreading the Latvian comics fever including the Comica Comiket.
