I am Ash Pure. Artist of the not too distant future. Come back to tell you: Be Pure. Be Vigilant. Be Excellent to each other.

My universal mandate of ultimate cosmic truth is too complex for your primitive mammalian cerebellum to process so I compress it into sequential word and image strings folding it down into solid paper forms that you call ‘comics’ and ‘prints’.

Ash Pure Manifested in this sector of local space time in what we now call London in 1977. He survived on a diet of large format, reduced palette, UK comics that were instrumental in the warping of his fragile young mind and subsequent reconfiguring of his DNA (A process known to sequential scientists as the Zarjaz Effect).

The influence of the UK comics of the 80s and 90s is seen especially in his ongoing urban mythic sci-fantasy series The Lion & The Unicorn, described as “Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror meets Grant Morrison’s The Filth” by Geek Syndicate.

Realised as signed and numbered, deluxe limited edition magazine format comics (printed as ethically and environmentally as possible to the highest standards) and extended digital editions, re-formatted specifically for viewing on tablet devices.

The Lion & The Unicorn has built what can only be described as a cult following being nominated for the Best Comic in the 2014 British Comics Awards.

At the other end of the spectrum Ash Pure creates ‘underground’ Statement-comix that are his highly personal attempt to explore and decode the human condition (You know, like Data in Star Trek) and in so doing saves the world… One panel at a time.

The latest strip winning second prize in the annual Comic Invasion Berlin ‘Fanzine; under the title AUF UND DAVON – TO A BETTER PLACE!

Ash Pure creates everything using photo montage, rotoscope, illustration, typography and graphic design techniques, combined in a process he likes to call Composographic Fotorotomancy (yes, seriously).

Ash Pure: The Lion And The Unicorn

An ancient kingdom lies crumbling, it’s capital city teetering on the brink of revolution.
A multi-national conglomerate sells its psychic technology and upwardly mobile utopian lifestyle as the only way out. But at what cost?
While factions argue amongst themselves telekinetic terror is unleashed… And nothing will ever be the same again!
Can a scarred, embittered, exiled old war hero and a powerful, but naive psychic knight come together as The Lion and The Unicorn – Defenders of The Realm Keepers of The King’s Peace, in time to save the Kingdom?
